USCIS Director Alejandro Mayorkas is quoted today as being supportive of making the immigration process more entrepreneur friendly, but his front line adjudicators are not getting the message, as noted in our previous post . As stated at VentureBeat, “I believe that Alejandro is serious in his intent and genuinely wants to fix the problem. The question is whether the bureaucracy will let him.” And that is the rub – the Department of Homeland Security and the President will need to get behind entrepreneur visa policy implementation in a big way if meaningful changes are to be made. For starters, USCIS could stop issuing endless, mindless RFEs for currently pending H-1B and L-1A petitions. That would not take an act of Congress, but would require agency leadership.
