International Adoption

There are currently three pathways for international adoption. The first and most common is by way of the Hague Convention when the child is from a country that is signatory to the convention. The U.S. signed the convention in April, 2008. The other two pathways, if the Hague Convention does not apply, are for orphans and for children adopted overseas who have resided with their adoptive parents for at least two years.
